  • The most common herbaceous legume in the desert flora of California is silky dalea which occurs widely across our Sonoran Desert region on coarse or gravelly flats and washes of creosote bush scrub at elevations below 3,000 feet. This mat-forming species sprawls over diameters of up to 12 inches, with blue-gray pinnately compound leaves dotted with black glands and covered with fine, soft hairs.
