Chylismia claviformis

 Chylismia claviformis (Brown-eyed primrose) ( )

Onagraceae

  • Brown-eyed primrose is a variable species with flowers that range from bright yellow to white in color. This is a common species with a widespread range in sandy washes and slopes of creosote bush scrub and Joshua tree woodland, as well as widely in western North America. Brown-eyed primrose is an erect species ranging in height from just a few inches to 24 inches depending on rainfall. Its common name comes from the presence of large brown or purple spots at the base of each petal, giving the flower a dark center.
