  • Lax flower is an annual with smaller flower heads with fewer disk flowers than desert marigold, foliage is covered by soft woolly hairs. The basal leaves of lax flower wither before the flowers reach maturity. Lax flower is limited to elevations below about 3.500 feet in the eastern Mojave and Sonoran deserts where it favors sandy soils and dunes.
