  • A common summer-fall desert ephemeral; mainland and Tiburon and San Esteban islands. The small, pinkish flowers are on slender racemose inflorescences. The Seri said it is like tall hay, but with small leaves. Food: the green herbage was cooked, mashed and eaten. This was one of the few greens used by the Seri. Water Transport: it was one of several kinds of plants used to cover an olla to prevent water from splashing or spilling. "People of the Desert and Sea, Ethnobotany of the Seri Indians".
