Abutilon incanum ( ) ( )

Malvaceae

  • Small shrub with slender stems and drought-deciduous foliage; widespread and common on the mainland and on Tiburon Island. Adornment: small pieces of the stem were put through pierced ear holes to keep them from closing. Food Preparation: several mallows apparently were once used to string grasshoppers.
